Ultrasounds are an important of baby
pregnancy. They help doctors to check for baby’s growth in addition to organ
development. Ultrasounds help to bond with baby’s family. It presents them a
chance to see a baby for the first time. Ultrasound helps to detect issue such
as placenta previa and dilation of cervix prematurely.
3D Ultrasound Procedure
Ultrasound procedure starts by rubbing a
special gel over a woman's abdomen and a wand to emit sound waves rubbed across
the gel. The sound waves travelling in the abdomen helps to bounce off a baby
to create an image for a doctor which everyone can see. 3D Sonogram or
ultrasound is more detailed than a regular ultrasound procedure. It helps
everyone in the room to watch baby’s facial expressions and to get an idea of
what the baby’s features will look at the time of birth.
When to Go for a 3D Ultrasound?
Women can schedule at least 2-3 ultrasounds
during a pregnancy course. The best
thing is to get a 3D ultrasound between 24 to 28 weeks gestation. This helps to
watch a complete picture of a baby instead of a squishy womb image.
After 30 weeks gestation, it becomes difficult
for the baby to take images since they are too crowded in a womb. A baby under
20 weeks gestation do not fat under their skins which makes it difficult to
check what their facial features look like.
Sonogram
Sonogram is an image which you get after
performing an ultrasound. The image is shared with family and friends. Best
ultrasound images known as sonograms come from 3D ultrasounds to include
detailed facial expressions along with individual toes and fingers. A lot of
women hang the images for baby’s nursery walls or convert them into a memory
book which they can keep forever. This helps to show babies their looks after
they are in a mature age.
3D Ultrasound Risks
Ultrasound is one of the best procedures to go for an expecting
mother. It is neither invasive nor
require some risk. Laying on your back is uncomfortable for long periods and in
some situations sonographers also press too hard with their wand to get a
baby’s image. However, there are a lot of sonographers which would do whatever
they want to keep a pregnant women comfortable during an ultrasound.
There are apprehensions about whether to go for 3D ultrasound or not.
A 3D ultrasound carries a lot of risk than the regular ultrasound. A lot of
doctors suggest not having more than one ultrasound for women unless required
keeping the baby’s health in mind.
